Biography
from The Cairo Modern Art Museum : Kamal Yaknour (1928-2000)
Famous for his pleasing combinations of folklore; drew much of his
inspiration from the common folk in the traditional area where his
studio was located; the ancient house of El-Ghouri in the Hussein
district of Cairo. He made no attempt to create the illusion of depth,
delineating his elements with clear lines. Dolls, horses and folk
designs on clothes and on buildings captivated him, and became an
integral part of his work. (1928-2000, Cairo)
